Aspire 3680 internet problems

Hi All! Smiley Very Happy

I'm hoping someone out there will be able to give me some help with my son's Aspire 3680 notebook.

This notebook hasn't been working for over 2 years, I thought it might of been in need of a new hard-drive, but I tried re-installing Vista which has cured the problems, the only problem now is I can't figure out how to get the wireless to work, the button on the front does work as when I slide it across there's a pop up that says its enabled, but no light next to the button, I have looked on my friend google to find answers but to no avail.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that at the moment I have a router but no broadband, which is why maybe it can't 'see' the router??  Or is it something like a driver that needs to be re- installed??

I realise that this request is a long shot as the notebook is about 6-7 years old (I bought it new in 2007) but thought what the hell, someone might know!!

Heres hoping

If the wireless LAN is operating, it should be visible in Device Manager.

Be sure it shows there and that it does not have a ! or X on it.

It should see the router, assuming the router is functioning correctly.

Without broadband connected to the router, you will not have Internet connectivity.
