Acer Aspire One AOD756 Will not wake from Sleep with Lid Closed

I purchased a new Acer Aspire One model AOD756-2626 and I am experiencing a problem where the netbook is refusing to wake from standby while the lid is closed.

I am using an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse which are all working fine. I am able to use the netbook with the lid closed and send the system to sleep with the lid closed but it refuses to wake up unless the lid is opened and the power button or a key on the built in keyboard is pressed.

If I leave the lid open the netbook does wake up from a click of the external mouse or keyboard.

Only when the lid is closed does the netbook refuse to wake.

I have updated BIOS to the newest 2.15 revision but it did not fix the problem.

I have also confirmed that all relevant USB devices in device manager are checked to allow the device to wake the computer.

It is doing this on Windows 8 and Windows 7 that I have performed a clean installation of with the newest drivers available.

Please let me know if this can be fixed, seems like something that could be fixed with a proper BIOS update.

I bought this to replace an older netbook that was able to wake with the lid closed without issue so it is frustrating that a brand new model is unable to do this properly.

In addition, the 2.15 BIOS actually broke the ability to change the Legacy devices boot order in BIOS.

Pressing F5/F6 now does nothing. Previous BIOS that came with the netbook did not have that problem.

A new BIOS is needed to fix that issue for sure.

So does anyone actually come here to read these?

Phone support has been useless. I am about ready to send it back.
