I saw a few unannswered questions on externals monitors and video ram etc I wanted to address.

EXTERNAL MONITORS
You can generally go up to a 2100x 1024 (27" external monitor) HD on pretty much all of the Acer laptops. Let me explain. When you literally plug in your new higher resolution external monitor, the Video Display settings in the control panel on windows operating system will allow you to select a higher resolution...AND not before.  The new monitor MUST be plugged in and the device drivers tells windows what the acceptable resolutions are and these will appear in the settings for your to adjust.

VIDEO RAM
The Video Ram that comes with laptop comprises of dedicated RAM ranging from 64Mb to around 512Mb The rest of the video ram is makde up of shared memory from the generic pool. I stronmgly recommend that you run your laptop with a minimum of 6Gb for any graphic work. The upgrade is simple to do, search out on youtube Acer Aspire memory upgrade.  With an external monitor the memory uipgrade is almost necessary for smooth operation, and copsts about $30 for the additional 2Gb

Hope these answer any questions people may have had
