Hi I own a
acer aspire 3680  (it's close was probably 3680-3260 or something label worn off)

It has 4Gb Ram shared with 64Mb dedicated Video memory and allocated 1024Mb video ram

I am at the maximum screen resolution on the laptop monitor. Also, I use an extended secondary flat screen monitor currently the extended screen is at the maximum resolution of 1360*768 I can set.

I want to upgrade the memory on the laptop to 6GB

GOAL:  I want to increase that extended monitor resolution up to 1920*1080.

Will I be able to achieve that by bumping the memory to to 6G in the laptop. I do not know how to adjust memory allocation on the video side, can I do that?

Also is it possible to increase the dedicated Video RAM from 64Mb to 256Mb

An answer of either of these question woudl be really appreciated

WIth love
Tania

    Same answer as before...

You simple need to plug in the higher resolution monitor to access the new higher desired resolution (set this in the display control panel). Also make sure you install any necessary drivers that come with the monitor.

Changing the dedicated video ram will entail you changing the video card, I recommend you make sure you have or that you install a memory upgrade so you are running with 6Gb of ram
