Re: Bought a predator Helios 18 AI Ultra 9 PH18-73-96YC but still not yet handed the laptop to me!
Harvey Norman is a reputable Australian retailer of Acer products and I'm sure that you will get your Predator Helios 18 AI PH18-73 when its available for the Australian market, we can't give you an exact ETA, as Acer community has nothing to do with Acer directly and/or can we give you product release dates in Australia.
Btw, I'm from Sydney Australia and you have to appreciate that products that are available from Acer in the US are not available in Australia at the same time, as the Predator 18 AI PH18-73 is already available in the US. Be patient as if you have ordered this laptop it will be delivered asap and when its available for the Australian market. Contact Acer Australia and ask them. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

Request for Urgent BIOS Update to Fix GPU Fan Issue on Nitro ANV15-51 (After v1.26)
Hello Acer Support Team,
I'm writing to request urgent attention from the BIOS/firmware development team regarding a persistent issue on the Acer Nitro ANV15-51 series. After updating to BIOS version 1.26, many users (including myself) have been experiencing erratic GPU fan behavior — including extremely high fan speeds even at low system loads, and sometimes even within the BIOS screen itself.
This issue has been widely reported across Reddit, the Acer community forum, and other platforms. While some users mentioned a possible BIOS v1.31, it appears that this version is either unreleased or has not resolved the problem. Fans are still behaving abnormally even with this version.
Request:
Please escalate this issue to your backend/firmware development team and kindly provide:
1. An official rollback tool or BIOS downgrade utility to version 1.25 or earlier.
2. A new BIOS update that resolves this fan control bug and restores normal thermal and fan performance.
This problem is significantly affecting daily usage and thermals, and users are losing confidence in the system's stability. We hope Acer takes this matter seriously and provides a timely resolution.
Thank you,
Manas Mitra

Re: Looking for portable solar panel compatible with Nitro 5, any recommendations?
Hey @Bowmanpa _1 — solid idea for outdoor charging, but there’s a technical reality check when it comes to gaming laptops like the Nitro 5.
These machines typically use a 230W power adapter, which means:
- Regular power banks or basic solar panels won't cut it — they're designed for phones, tablets, maybe ultrabooks at best.
- You’d need a solar generator with a true sine wave inverter that can output stable AC power at 230W or more continuously.
- Most portable solar stations top out around 100-150W, even the pricey ones. It's not just about wattage—it’s sustained draw, thermal limits, and inverter specs.
In short, unless you’re camping with a truck-mounted inverter or an SUV fitted with a robust solar + battery setup, gaming-grade power delivery isn’t feasible.
If your goal is basic laptop use while camping, you might look at a low-power device or even use the Nitro 5 offline with battery-saving tweaks. But for full gaming loads? That’s outside the scope of portable solar tech—for now.

Re: Cloning old SSD to a new SSD
I don't know which Acer computer what type of drive like a 3.5" / 2.5" or a M.2 SSD you are trying to clone? As the oem Acer fitted M.2 SSD drives like WD, Hynix, Samsung, Seagate have their own cloning software and Acronis might not be compatible with the M.2 SSD drive that you are using.
The Acronis True Image for WD is a specialist cloning software for Western Digital M.2 SSD drives just like the Samsung Magician > Data Migration section is a specialist cloning software for Samsung drives and its the same with the SK Hynix M.2 drives that use the Macrium Reflect which is a specialist version for the SK Hynix drives.
If you have any other manufacturers M.2 SSD drives and you want to clone them, they should have a suggested cloning software to clone their drives with, so search the web, if they don't, then I suggest that you use the FREE Macrium Reflect 8.0 cloning software as that is one of the best and easiest to use around. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Re: Cloning old SSD to a new SSD
Hey @Born — I’ve been backing up and transferring boot drives for over 15 years now, and I’ve never used cloning software. Instead, I stick with the Windows 7 Backup & Restore tool, still available in Control Panel > Backup and Restore (Windows 7) even on Windows 11 24H2.
Cloning might be faster, but it’s also more prone to errors—especially with bootloader quirks or hidden partitions. The Windows Image Creator method is slower but foolproof, and it creates a VHD file that’s easy to manage.
🧩 Bonus Tip
The VHD format used by Windows Backup can be mounted directly in File Explorer like an extra drive:
- Just double-click the
.vhdor.vhdxfile - It shows up as a new drive letter
- You can browse, copy, or recover individual files without restoring the whole image
This works in any version of Windows File Manager, and it’s a great way to grab files from older backups or verify contents before a full restore.
Let me know if you want a screenshot of the Backup interface or a walkthrough on mounting the VHD—happy to share!
