Is that my cue? Opening an R7 to get to the HDD and memory and whatnot!

Going from 6GB to 12GB *should* produce an occasionally-noticeable improvement, possibly worth the investment if you're going to keep using the laptop for a few more years. It looks like you can grab an 8GB SODIMM from Newegg for ~$55, although shopping around might bring that under $50. That's not GREAT value for the…

You can disable automatic screen rotation by holding down Windows key and pressing "O", which has sometimes helped me.

Hello, I had what sounds like the same problem when I did a complete reinstall on my R7 last month. Windows Desktop icons were larger, and some 3rd party programs like Steam had larger boxes with fuzzier text than before. Bring up the Windows desktop (I like to press Windows Key - D) and right-click, and select Screen…

You will need RAM in the 204-pin SO-DIMM format for your laptop. DDR3-1600 (also known as PC3-12800) should work a treat. Your SSD should have a MSATA interface, so depending on what is in there at the moment, you could put in a Plextor M6M disk. There are some hidden screws on the R7 chassis - you can take a look here and…

It might simply be Windows not recognising the new battery. Can you leave it for a few hours to see how long the laptop lasts? If it's a normalish time on the new battery, then you could try a third-party battery program for Windows to provide you with battery information during usage.

First, you shouldn't need more than 8GB total unless you're doing something REMARKABLY memory-intensive. My high-end desktop has 8GB, and it would be cheap and easy for me to change that to 16GB, but it's simply not worth it. 8GB is fine for 98% of people, whether your uses include office work, Internet browsing, or even…

It could be trying to output to a secondary screen. You can use Windows Key + P to switch between video outputs.

In Windows, microphone functions tend to be within the "Sound" part of the Control Panel. Go to the Control Panel, go to Sound, and you should see a "Recording" tab where you can fiddle with your mike.

Windows 8 includes full multiple language support, unlike previous Windows versions that only included the support in "Pro" versions (e.g. Windows 7 Pro). So the "normal" Windows 8 (or 8.1), be it Spanish or English, will be absolutely fine, as it's simple to go into the Control Panel and change the language to your…

Windows 7 install often has a "freezing" logo - make sure you wait at least 30 minutes as the installation may continue. (Make sure the laptop AC power is connected, too.)

To upgrade the graphics card in a laptop, you *must* have an "MXM" laptop. The "MXM" port is like a PCI-E port inside a laptop. They were slightly popular about 5 years ago, and models like the Acer 5739G had MXM graphics cards. However, it is difficult to build a laptop that is both upgradeable and super-slim. Today…

I am sorry. What is your first language?

"Customers desiring 100% pixel defect-free Notebooks or LCD Monitors can avail the same at additional charges. Please contact the nearest Acer Authorized Retailer / Reseller" What did your nearest Acer Authorized Retailer / Reseller say about this when you contacted them?

No, Acer does not own CNET. You are thinking of CBS Corp, I think? I think that if Acer owned CNET and produced that review as part of their "manufacturer propoganda", they would probably have scored their own laptop higher than 3 stars out of 5.

"Exactly, it was 802.11a/b/g/n AND BT 4.0." Ummm... I'm sorry, but I'm not able to bring up this quote from Acer regarding the R7. I've tried Non-Specific-Internet-Search-Engining "acer 802.11a/b/g/n AND BT 4.0", "acer r7 802.11a/b/g/n AND BT 4.0", and even just "802.11a/b/g/n AND BT 4.0", but your quote simply isn't…

"If your R7 is still under warranty, maybe you should look into getting it replaced with a fully-functional build like Acer promised you when you purchased it." What was the promise, exactly? I think it might be worth comparing Acer's promise, word-for-word, with what the R7-572 actually delivers. Please quote them…

Converting your measurement, I can see your dongle is 5.08cm! I agree, I wouldn't like something that big sticking out from my laptop. Try searching for a bluetooth "micro dongle" or "microdongle" (sometimes also "mini dongle") online. I can see they start from $1.92 in the US.

The serial number isn't written on the underneath of the R7 - it's on the inside of the Ezel hinge. Make your R7 look like the Starship Enterprise and look under the back of the saucer section.

Ah, you have the manual and the quick guide for your V3-772G? I wasn't trying to be insulting - I thought your laptop must have been missing the documentation. Quick Recovery Guide: "Quick Guide" Page 2. Full Recovery Details: V3-772G Manual Page 40. But if you haven't found those, then you're missing both the Quick Guide…
