Hello everyone.

I have Windows 10 installed on my laptop.

I would now like to update from version 1703 to higher.

However I get the following error message:

“We couldn’t update system reserved partition”

I am unable to increase the partition size of the System Reserved Partition (SRP), either by disk manager or an external program.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you kindly!

Thank you very much for your response.

Unfortunately I get stuck at (GTP partition) at step 4: Open File Explorer and put Y:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\ in the address bar and press enter.

    I don't get the Y: assigned.

Is there another way to do that?

    Thank you kindly.

please double check if letter Y is used from other drives, if so change it to other letter like U

    Thank you kindly.

I tried two different letter names with a reboot inbetween.

I still cannot find the drive in file explorer directly (or in any browser).

In the meantime I got one step further.

Instead of mountvol I used diskpart.

This way I am able to assign a letter to the drive.

However, I now get stuck at the permissions part.

    I've tried takeown without success.

Moreover the tab "security" is not displayed even while attempting to access the drive as an administrator.

Anyone know how to solve this?

one workaround can be a live Linux Distro like Lubuntu, you just need to boot it from an USB flash drive and once at desktop, browse to the drive that need the files delete.

    1) http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/17.04/release/lubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64.iso

    2) download Rufus:
    http://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US
plug your USB flash drive, run Rufus then:
select ISO image from the dropdown menu near "Create a bootable disk"
click on the little icon on the right and browse to the windows 10 downloaded iso file
as Partitions scheme select "GPT partition scheme for UEFI"
    as File system select "FAT32"
    click on Start
wait until it finish, then uplug your USB flash drive
    4) plug your USB flash drive and at boot press F12 (if F12 doesn't work, see if it auto-recognise the USB flash drive or press F2 to enter BIOS and enable F12 boot menu under BOOT tab), choose the USB flash drive as bootable device
