Nice try but this is not a solution that is reasonable for the average consumer. AND the various solutions only work selectively. I have tried every on I could find for my refurbished Aspire and NADA.

"Acer has always believed in “Serve with honor and work with pride.” We provide clients with professional service and satisfy customer demands through innovation and steadfast intent. In the end, we hope that customers are proud of their Acer products."
Upstanding inividuals and companies "walk their talk", on this issue that has effected thousands of owners of acer laptops, Acer has failed in this area. The solution should be owned up to and not left up to the general non-tech savvy users to trouble shoot and SOLVE this problem.
The solution is to replace the wifi adapter with one that does not conflict with the firmware/acer architecture, period. And, Acer knows this. I provided a solution in this post, though it may not be financially advantageous to Acer it is the true solve for the thousands of us suffering Acers refusal to assist customers with a problem that came inherent with the units they built.

I purchased an Acer computer with this same WNA earlier this year and began experiencing the same wireless internet connection problems about 2 months later. These wireless internet disconnections became a daily occurrence sometimes happening 2-3 times per day and each instance got progressively worse. When I tried clicking on the wireless connection icon at the bottom of my desktop, the computer would freeze up and become totally unresponsive to where I would have to unplug my power chord to reboot.
First, I read through the community thread here on suggested remedies and tried them all, but none resolved my ongoing problem wireless connection problems. I read other on line threads about this exact same issue with Acer and this apparently problematic WNA and they had little new to offer as to suggested fixes to this problem. I phoned Acer and they had me go through the same drill as others have posted here and it did nothing to resolve the problem. They wanted me to send my new computer back to them for their inspection which sounded like nothing more than them scrubbing everything, reinstalling my Windows 7 OS and taking my computer back to factory restore on everything including, yes, the exact same Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 WNA which appears to be the problem. After speaking with two computer consultants I respect, they both told me to not send my computer back to them as that would likely do nothing to resolve my connection problem and just add more aggravation by having to reinstall all my software, etc. I have decided to hard wire my Acer computer to the internet and abandon wireless connection. Incredible, that I have to do this with a brand new computer because Acer fails to acknowledge this widespread problem and prepare a fix for all their users. I can assure you of one thing, I will NEVER buy another Acer computer and I will spare no opportunity to share my bad experience with others!
Very disappointed in Acer.

That pretty much sums up the situation. I see that Acer is heavily discounting their computers which have this WNA. No thanks, not for me, ever again.

Your suggested remedy to adjust the network adapter power management setting to fix this problem has been posted before by others. It may fix the problem for some, but I and others have tried it and the disconnection problems continued with no improvement.
I hard wired my Acer computer using an ethernet cable and no longer have any connection problems. I also no longer have the convenience of a wireless connection. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ACER COMPUTER AGAIN and will look to share my experience with as many different tech forums, Acer product review web sites, etc. telling others about this serious problem .

I know this is an old thread, but I am having the same problems with my V3-731 (Win8.1 x64). Since none of the suggested fixes ARE "fixes", has anyone had any success installing a different combo wifi/BT card? I tried an Intel 3160 <http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IOS19E6/ref=oh
If anyone has had success in installing and using another card, I would be interested in hearing of your experiences.
TIA!
