Imo you need to use the windows 8 system repair disk which will allow you to opt the command prompt.
Then you need to fix the mbr on all partitions. I am assuming that your hdd still has 3 partitions from the original windows installaion that came with the computer. You need to fix mbr (using the command prompt) on all 3 partitions prior to installing WIndows anew. NTFS is the proper format for the main hdd partition.
Imo if you have the actual Windows 8 CD for the OS then do not bother with the recovery partition as you can just use the disk in the future if need be. Just reformat the entire hdd as NTFS, use the fixboot & fixmbr commands from the command prompt (using the repair disk) and then install Windows 8 from the CD you purchased.
Here are example syntax for your command prompt:

After you install the OS, you will need to download and install the appropriate Windows drivers from Acer for your specific unit.

TDully,
Sorry for the problems you are experiencing. I want to see if I can help improve your support experience. Can you please send me a private message with your computer serial number, telephone number, and email address, so I can look into having someone contact you to better assist?
Also, I am very curious as to the "Nasty" email you received from our support. Would you also please include the entire message in the private message you send, so I can investigate and take further action?

Am not too sure how/why you would like to receive soke emails which I recieved frmo Ecommerce@Acer.
I can say that waitng extra days for the First set of CD, well ok, however, Waiting for the Replecement set took over 3 weeks! Heck the package was rather beat up. Talk about snail mail!?!
OK, the folks that i chatted with on line as well as some person whcih ALL said the hard disc needs t be formatted and partitioned was/is wrong! OR at least after trying to install the system I have (V5-571P, intel i5,touch) did not work for me. As I have said before, I tried so hard and so many different ways (Formated in NTSDF/Fat32/Fat32ex, etc, as well as partitioned (which I was told to do) etc.) just to have the CD's plut win 8 on the laptop was crazy!
For me...after the hard drive that came with laptop died. (ok out of darn warrenty by few months, but did work well proir to all the issues) I had a Brand new hard i let the person use for now... till I can afford to purchase another 1TB 7200rpm drive...
I actually wiped the drive, even though it was brand new, never used for anyhting, i still wiped the drive. 1Tb non formatted drive is what i put back into his laptop.
Sure as %$#* the opertaion of placing win8 on the laptop worked. 100%.
However, what i dont understand is, why could we not receive win8.1?? Try to put this all back to togther, I place *gb 1600MHz memory in there, plus my own new drive, I still had to wait for extremely long to update to win8.1....then the newer "Win8.1 Updated" to all download, and the install, plus the having to download all the drivers...Win8 as wells as Win8.1 .... Just seems to me to be way to much extra work.
Granted, the laptop was sold with Win8, however, Microsoft has preety much get rid of that... twice actually!
Hopes this does help anyone that might reaad, about issue with restallation of system, Win8...
thanks
