Restore/ recover disk problem
Hi guys I have a acer aspire 7750g running windows 7 home premium 64bit

My laptop did that auto update to windows 10 and it just wasn't for me and additionally it seemed to impact on my laptops performance

So I rolled back to to 7 and that's where the real problems began the machine became extremely slow I tried all sorts deleting anything non essential virus scans the lot nothing seemed to do much so I dug out my recovery disks I made Upton purchase

All seemed to be going well but shortly after having to insert disk 2 it gives up the recovery gets to 43% (now copying z:\images\pop010eao0xx1cf174.swm

It sour there on 43% for a good 5 mins then it pops up saying

Restore failed-error code=Ox17(dataerror (cyclic redundancy check ).)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

try again to restore using your Disk.

that error is a CD7DVD support error or DVD drive itself:

I've tried it now about 10/15 times it gives up at the exact same point easy time there is a slight scratch on disk 2 so perhaps that is the problem how would I go about getting a replacement?

if you think there's a slight scratch, you can try to remove it using some toothpaste

if you need to buy another set of recovery disks:

    Acer recovery media
    US:
    https://store.acer.com/en-us/extended/recovery/

    Canada:
    https://store.acer.com/en-ca/extended/recovery/

if you are outside the US and Canada, you must call/email your regional Acer support service:

I'm having an absolute nightmare with this I've contacted acer to get the new disks they asked for the product key which is a bit faded so they said to contact Microsoft to get the correct product key details

However Microsoft have told me because the windows came preinstalled on the device only acer will have the product key details so they can't help me any further

So I ring back acer who were absolutely no help either just telling me to call back Microsoft again

is your laptop still able to boot to OS even in safe mode?

if so, you can try to recover the key:

Unfortunately not as I was half way through the restore disk process so now I can't get anything to work and acer are proving useless

you have to choices, in my opinion:

    1) have a look on the recovery disk if any unattend.xml (can be in this folder \Windows\Panther\Unattend or windows/system32/sysprep) file is present, this contain the product key

    2) do a clean windows 10 install, it will be authenticated since you already had it, so you just need to skip the product key request during install

I can't do either as my laptop is my only computer and since the recovery disks failed on me when I now turn the laptop on I'm met by a screen that just says windows failed to start a decent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer

    at boot try to press:

F8 and check if you can enter safe mode

alt+F10 and check if you can enter recovery menu
