Acer S7-392 brightness issue

Greetings, I just got my Acer Aspire S7-392-9890 in a week ago, and after fixing the wifi issues have been loving it... unfortunately I'm having one odd issue.

When I have the computer plugged in and open the lid to awaken it from sleep it wakes up to full 100% brightness, but if the power cord is removed or accidently dislodged (which happens frequently) it will go to about 70% brightness for being on battery power - so far so good! But, when I plug it back in - expecting it to go to full 100% brightness - it only goes up to 80% brightness even though everything in Windows 8 indicates that its at 100% brightness.

I have to close the lid to get the computer to go to sleep and open it back up, to actually get it at 100% brightness.

It is a minor issue, but one I've never had an issue with with the MANY laptops I've owned in the past.

That is an odd occurance, as I would expect it to go to 100% myself.  I will forward this for further investigation.

On the other hand, you can disable a setting and then you will have complete control over the brightness of the screen.

    • Go to Setttings
    • Change PC settings
    • General
    • Screen
    • Disable "Adjust my screen brightness automatically".

Sorry i can't help you with your problem but where did you buy your laptop; I'm looking for an authorised dealer in the UK.

    Thanks,

I was about to leave a negative review on amazon for the Aspire S7-392 because the brightness was driving me crazy, it had nothing on my old Vaio and I couldn't figure out why. For anyone else who experiences the same issue, Windows 8.1 has changed the options round a bit:

Swipe the right hand screen -> Settings -> Change PC Settings -> PC and Devices -> Power and Sleep -> uncheck automatically adjust brightness.

This may be good for battery life but it is not good when trying to code in sunlight! I can use FN left and right perfectly well Smiley Wink
