Why does my CPU only perform at 1.6 Ghz when on battery power?

It is normal for the AN515-42 CPU operate at 1.6 Ghz when using only battery power. This behavior occurs because the AMD CPU and GPU require more power than the battery can output. Running the CPU at 1.6 Ghz allows for increased run time when using battery power. Acer recommends connecting the AC adapter during heavy gaming or usage for optimum performance.
