Some Acer products use Active Electrostatic (AES) technology that uses a sensor grid in the LCD panel, and conductive tip in the stylus, to determine the physical touch point. The system reports the location of the stylus based on the closest grid intersection many times each second. Drawing too slowly may cause lines to appear wavy because more locations will be reported. This is inherent to all products that use AES technology, and not exclusive to Acer products. We are currently working with stylus manufacturers to help optimize stylus performance on our products.

A: Acer has released a touch panel firmware update to help reduce line jitter when using AES stylus. We recommend you download and install this firmware. You can also help reduce line jitter by increasing the speed of your strokes. If your lines are not as straight as you would like them to be, we recommend trying the following suggestions: The images below illustrate the difference in the way slow and fast strokes will be reported. The diagonal lines in the images show the lines drawn with the stylus, and each change in color between red and blue shows when a reporting point (green circle) is plotted.

How AES works:
Wacom’s Active ES is an electrostatic capacitive pen coupling technology. It consists of a display containing a sensor with multiple electrostatic grids arranged at right angles to one another that interacts with a Wacom digital pen. One sensor grid and the pen act as the transmitting unit that generates an electrical field; the other grids act as receiving units. The pen's position is identified based on differences in the charge amount detected on each sensor grid receiving unit.
How EMR works:
Wacom’s patented electromagnetic resonance (EMR) technology consists of a layer of sensors that sits behind the device’s Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen and a layer of hardened glass. The sensors are arranged in an alternating vertical/horizontal grid pattern. Each sensor is precisely calibrated and emits a weak electromagnetic signal. Together, these signals create a magnetic field that extends about 5mm beyond the glass surface of the device.

A: Charging for 15 seconds allows for approximately 90 minutes of use. Charging for 300 seconds will allow for more than 100 minutes of use.

A: The upper button acts as the right click on your mouse and the lower button acts as an eraser. These functions cannot be altered or programmed.
