Thanks all, but I no longer need assistance....got the problem fixed. I ran good old AVG PC Tuneup, and after it fixed a large number of Registry errors, all is well again. I was using their trial version, but I'll now make that a full version. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for the advice guys. The 2nd HDD is not shown in Disk Management or anywhere else. Tried resetting the battery but no difference. Administrative Events logs show disk problems since 14 Jan, with HDD disappearance on 30 Jan during Steam game program download...not sure what they mean though. Have included what I…
