Thanks for the encouragement--I bravely ran all of the updates on both computers and everything is working great. The Vista updating took three hours, but the new Acer Windows 7 updating took less than an hour. In fact, I think it was a good idea to to wait for a couple years and update the Vista--I think the bad updates…

I can see all of the updates if I go to Window Update, and some are checked already. But if I just click ok and let them update--will it update in the correct order of the dates? This is karma---I know. My older laptop has Vista and I stopped doing the Microsoft updates in December 2011 because I was getting black screens…
