Nevermind - I was digging in the wrong place. I reseated the LCD monitor screen. Watching a teardown video really helps. I'm assuming I have a LCD monitor problem. It's been a real education as to how these things work after dealing with relatively "low" tech industrial controls.

So there's an Atmel board that I found with a ribbon cable. Pretty sure that's the video controller from another teardown site. Appears fully seated on the PCB end. Would the screen have a connection or would it be directly tied? Looks complicated to tear down further. That board is pretty well free floating - don't know…
