I went to Lowes and bought a cheap Torx precission set for $5.98. Sure enough, the middle screw was loose. To the point of almost being completely off. In fact all of the screws on the back of the case were loose. I've even lost one! Anyway, thanks for posting the solution.

After some additional testing, I think I've narrowed this problem down to being a driver issue. It seems that the laptop only shuts down if it is left idle on battery power. This leads me to believe that it has something to do with Power Saving. Does anybody know which driver would control power saving or sleep, hibernate…
