You mean the DMD chip. It's made by Texas Instruments and has a 5 year warranty on it. Maybe explain to Acer that the chip itself is warrantied for 5 years. I've definitely heard of others with Acer projectors getting it covered under warranty (even after the 1 year) if you explain this to Acer.
