  • I have the same case when my unit arrived I have installed synaptics and seems still not working then I installed elan drivers from the acer driver website and boom the trackpad gestures are now working... you might want to try install synaptics then if it doesn't work try elan, these drivers can be found on the support…
  • I'm sorry to hear all issues and incompetence illustrated on this thread but same goes with Acer here in the Philippines. I mean I was just there asking for battery information and they just told me to call acer support and I was huh? I'm already in an acer service center, I just needed further explanation about li-ion…
  • In my case I'm using the latest version drivers for HD 4000, I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro. The OS doesn't come pre-installed I bought a copy from the Microsoft Store.
  • I would suggest to let the local Acer Service Center (actual hardware check) or might as well consider replacing the unit to where did you purchase it if you are still on the allowable period for replacement. As for myself I would consider it as defective.
  • @AcerTommy Any further explanation why 1.XX BIOS cannot take advantage of the 2.XX? Like hardware limitations or its just not compatible and will NEVER be upgradable? I have just read that 2.XX has great support for Windows 8.1 where fast boot up and other optimizations is applied.
  • Turbo Boost is a processor feature and only activates when its needed. Such as when using high CPU consumption software and even during boot. There's no option for this on the BIOS nor software that will turn it off/on. The activation is determined by the processor not via BIOS or any other software. You may want to try…
  • Maybe you can also lower down the power being used by the display it should be on the Power options on the Intel HD Graphics software, set to Maximum battery life when using Battery mode. Mine is a TravelMate X series, running i5-3337U, I suppose your hardware should be more capable of having more battery since its using a…
  • I'm glad this has been recognized. I have also noticed this option on Samsung laptops where charging stops at 80% and let the AC run the laptop useful for units where the battery is non-removable. I hope Acer will be able to release a bios update for this as well as make use of the power optimization applied on Haswell…
  • Install Acer Launch Manager and then press FN+F3. Some bluetooth switch is tied on with the WiFi switch.
  • even if its in Power Saving mode still the battery is merely 2 hours??? Mine updated to Windows 8.1 Pro and I get 6 hours battery life on power saving and 5 hours on Balanced mode. Btw, we dont have the same hardware but still its an acer ultrathin notebook... anyway, i hope acer can release a BIOS update for power saving…
  • did you make sure you've purchased a working RAM stick and its compatible on your laptop mobo?
  • you may want to review the exact model from the store and confirm if there's a backlit keyboard for your laptop... but normally it should be FN + F9.
  • were you given a reference number and a call back number to check the status of your repair? Have you sent it to a local partner service center or to your country's direct service center?
  • I have the same exact situation as with you but unfortunately Acer is not listening. I have posted a thread over this link, might help or MIGHT NOT (lol): http://community.acer.com/t5/Ultra-Thin/Li-polymer-Battery-Charging-Tips/td-p/136225/jump-to/first-unread-message
  • @Alan-London As for now I am just using that software above to remind me of the calibration after 30 discharging cycle. Also for the meantime I am charging the battery when it reaches 7% and then fully charge it then sit for another 2 hours after full charge then remove the AC and then let it reaches again 7% while using…
  • @Alan-london: Thanks for the reply. I have found this software and currently using it, do you recommend what they are trying to claim like to re-calibrate your battery after 30 discharge cycles? here's the link: http://batterycare.net/en/index.html
  • any reason why they can't just allow us to upgrade to that line of BIOS version? I mean our laptops can handle windows 8.1 given that we're using a 3rd gen i5 processor .. any info like incompatibilities or issues that may arise from using BIOS to UEFI?
  • afaik, nVdia GPU doesn't support yet Win 8.1
