Try plugging in an external monitor, if you get the video on an external screen OK, then the problem is with the screen not the on board graphics card and you will need to replace the screen.

If you haven't already, pleased try the following: Go into Network & Sharing centre, View available wireless networks. Find the mobile network and then delete it. Then do a new search for available networks and try to reconnect with it.

The USB ports are integrated onto the motherboard. It should be possilbe to desolder the fauly ones and solder on new ones, but it is not a job for the faint hearted as one slip and you could easily ruin the motherboard.

The laptop is shutting down because the processor is overheating, because of the fan not working. If you can access the fan you can test if it turns freely or feels stiff. If the blades do not turn freely it definately needs replacing, and if it is not working at all it will also need replacing. They are not expensive…

From your description I agree with nitinkaul16. The screen has developed a fault and needs to be replaced. Replacing the screen is pretty straightforward, the cost varies on size and whether CCFL or LED but approx 50-75GBP for most screens, and about 20-30 minutes work to replace it. if you are not comfortable doing it…

You can remove the hard drive and put it into a USB caddy. It is very straightforward to do on most mahcines. You can then easily access all your data and back it up to another external drive or PC/laptop
