  • Since some of those accessories are unknown - did you purchase any cable or other "thingie" to connect the w3 to a pc or mac so that you can directly move files/folders to the w3 and vice versa?
  • I might not fully understand what steps you tried. Have you tried doing the restore/reset from the PC Settings. I don't have the W3 anymore as I had to return mine due to a defective sd card slot. I am trying to recall the steps: Swipe left from the right edge and select PC settings. It may have then been the General…
  • But you can't avoid saving some personal stuff on the "hard drive." Cookies, passwords, email addresses, browser profiles including bookmarks, etc. But, yes, having the sd card option is a nice way to avoid storing too much stuff internally. There are tradeoffs in owning any technology. So we just deal with it and hope for…
  • <<Of course this brings up all sorts of security issues if the hard drive needs to be repaired on these tablets. If a disk failed on a new machine we would just eat the failure and restore the image backups to a drive we replaced. We would never send a machine with a drive in it for repair. How are others dealing with this…
  • Mine, also a 64, only had the charger. It may have had a disk - I did not open all of the sealed envelopes.
  • Acer-cory: Neither the one I had nor the Store Demo, stopped and waited to be pressed down "against a spring" Both just bottomed out as they were slipped into the slot. There was no "toggle" or spring to reverse the process. They were just stuck unfortunately. And they bottomed out so that the card's top edge was below the…
  • Thanks, both, for the replies. I do recall that software and cable combination (although its name escapes me). I guess, Rim/BB did install drivers that accomplished this drive emulation - quite handy actually. It was accommodated with a normal usb data cable (no crossover). Using Win Explorer, you could drag/drop in either…
  • I can't recall what I did but I was able to gain access to the Windows folder/directory. Whether it was installing the GOD-folder (google for GOD access to Windows) or tweaking something else, I could gain access to the folder. It also gave me access to appdata which I needed to move my Firefox profile from my desktop to…
  • Thanks. No, these definitely just grabbed the sd card. There was no release mechanism on mine or the Demo at the shop. Two guys poked and prodded and tried a paper clip. Nothing was going to release it. It would have to be pried out using some thin blade. Let me ask, that pin hole to the right of the sd card - I believe it…
  • First, let me ask - you or others actually were able to insert and then "spring" release an sd card from the W3? I returned the unit and the keyboard. They did not have any in stock. When I left, they were still trying to figure out how to get their SD card out of the Demo Floor Model. It, too, would not release the…
  • I don't know if they have any but it just opened about 1/2 hour ago. The issue now is to remove all of MY stuff and any identity stuff - always a pain.
  • Well, I just strolled outside with mine and the bars quickly dropped but I was able to cruise a few sites without any problem. Maybe 50 feet away from the router. 8.1 huh? Easy to do the upgrade? I have to return mine since the sd slot spring does not appear to work.

  • I will be cleaning the current one off to return for the broken sd slot. Ah, ha, just hooked it up to the upstairs Vizio TV and the tv is showing the W3 screen. So it may have been my Sony and it being hooked up through an hdmi switch box. Although, as I noted, that hdmi switch box, sony and Playbook work fine together.…

  • Another question, if no one minds. I tried hooking up the hdmi to my tv. I did not get an image. Is there some place to change the setting or output? Or do only certain apps show video over the hdmi output? I know that the cable and the system work because I hook my Playbook up to the same cable and the image on the screen…

  • I will reply to my own posting. Got it out with a very thin pen knife blade. Gently reinserting it - still no spring response. It may need replacement.
  • No, it does not. At least mine does not. And it was inserted correctly since I could read the files on it. Support said I would have to send it in for repair with a 10 day turnaround time!!!! I may hit Office Depot and see if their repair squad can do anything although if the spring is broken, they may be able to retrieve…
  • I've put a few tunes on the w3 and a few videos. The music volume is awfully soft and the settings appear to show it at full. Whereas, if I play a video, I can hear it just fine. Any clues? I will try some more music files.

  • Okay, finally unboxed it and unwrapped it from its all encompassing plastic diaper. Seems to be a bit slow charging but I was also trying to get the hang of it. I will admit that using it is complicated by my having a BB Playbook (abandoned yesterday by BBRY) where gestures even turn it on. Then there's the complete…

  • You mention "real satellite navigation" but the unit does not contain a gps, does it? I don't see gps listed in its specs and it still remains sealed in its plastic cacoon.

  • I'll repost what I entered in your other thread: " Well, mine arrived today at my door. But I'm still reluctant to open the plastic wrap as Office Depot will not take it back if it is unsealed and this feels like "opening a pig in a poke." Sight unseen and untested. The keyboard arrived two days ago but that was not vacuum…
