  • i’ve done the alt+f10 multiple times and gone into every option. i guess it’s just not going to happen - it’s not the laptop i’m concerned about; it’s photos, and hours of work. how annoying. thanks so much for your help.
  • oh. 1) yes i think so. all those three lines of text are there. 2) when i click through it’s troubleshoot > refresh your pc > then i have to select windows 10 > please wait.. ‘there was a problem with refreshing your pc. no changes were made. 
  • thanks so much; i definitely didn’t expect that level of help! all the above steps work but the ‘refresh’ option isn’t working and i really want to avoid resetting it if at all possible. should i contact acer for the recovery media? 
  • hi jack, thank you so much for the reply. it says ‘E5-511 series’ on the bottom; or ‘E5-511-P5JQ’?
