  • CAVEAT: Apparently the instructions still say use a 4Gb USB stick. An 8Gb stick is preferable. HTH anyone in a similar situation. Cheers...
  • FTW, bluetooth support is now available on all chrome channels; Beta, Stable, and Developer. There is ongoing and active inprovement with more devices being constantly added.
  • The only detail not included was the speed of the RAM that is installed from the factory. I have purchased DDR3 1600 Mhz. Hopefully this is the equivalent , otherwise will have to completely replace the factory RAM, rather than install the new RAM as an addition to what is already there.
  • Thank you for such a quick reply!
  • Ctrl+Shift++ (hold down those two keys and the "plus" sign) will increase the size of the tab font. Full details here. Conversely, Ctrl+Shift+- should reduce the size of the tab letter.
  • Clearly people who migrate from Windows to the Chrome OS are unclear of the concept. You wouldn't buy a Macintosh just to run Windows, so why buy a Chromebook to run Windows ... or for that matter buy a Windows machin to run MacOS? You would be defeating the primordial purpose of a chromebook: fast bootup, cloud storage,…

  • This question has been asked so many times. Here is the solution: how to print with a chromebook
  • There are two ways of installing linux on a chromebook. One method is via dual-boot, where you eitther boot into the default OS (chrome) at bootup, or into Linux. The other method is using crouton which will allow you to hot-key between linux and chrome without having to reboot. The following is an excellent article on hor…

  • suniljp wrote:Acer C710 doesn't support bluetooth. The new model C720 support bluetooth. Kindy refer to my original post. The machine DOES support bluetooth. • From your user icon at bottom right of the screen (after you are logged in), click on Settings (the 'wrench' icon is on the left side next to the 'Settings' button). This will bring up a chrome page. • FYI, "chrubuntu' is merely a 'flavour' of Ubuntu Linux designed for chromebooks. So for any assistance with that OS, i recommend going to the Ubuntu community forums. As for connecting a TV, you simply go into Administration ==> System Tools in chrubuntu. cheers, [edited for privacy]

  • Normally you do not need any drivers to mount an SD card in linux. Sameis the case when you install chrubuntu (Ubuntu) or any other linux distro on a chromebook. The fact that you can only copy one file, or none at all indicates it is a matter of permissions under linux, and / or the SD card is formatted using the wrong…
  • I have the Acer C710-2490 (Apparently the last 4 digits vary by country: I purchased mine here in Canada). It appears that for some reason Acer chose to disable Bluetooth in ChromeOS on this (my) model. However, once I had chrubuntu installed as dual boot, I had Bluetooth support there on the Linux partition. I have paired…
