  • I understand about the splash screen and what should happen. Actually, it does have an HDMI port. I have done both, HDMI and VGA. The external monitor is working perfectly...as with the cable. I use it to test all my computers when I fix them. It functioned not more than 5 mins prior to working on this laptop.
  • The CPU would not be the issue with this as the new motherboard came with a CPU already. As far as a display issue, switching motherboards would not have this problem, correct? I have the motherboard out of case (in case there is some short that way) and only have the fan, powerboard, hard drive, DIMM, and dc power jack connected.   • No, mine just went black one day. I hit the power button and and fan kicks in, DVD drive works, I can hear the hard drive 'spin'....but nothing comes up on screen.
