  • Has now vanished from list of updates in the Acer Care center. No information again! Glade I didn't install it. Maybe it was Acer offering Intel's micro code update, but if that's the case I would hope it would still show as my machine is still on 1511 as it will not update, so no MS microcode patches for me.
  • Yes poor implementation of UEFI firmware, may works ok in BIOS mode (no secure boot and disk size limited) but natively not with NVMe. Dell, Lenovo and others had the same issued but released firmware updates that correct this same problem but not Acer. They just say its not a supported configuration! To add to that no…
  • Even with Firmware 1.09 you will have on going problems with Windows 10 feature update failing and requiring a clean install. Acer don't seam to have any intent to fix the UEFI firmware for theses machines even for Spectre vulnerability according to them not being list as vulnerable machines on there list even though they…
  • Hi melvincz, Did you clean install directly to the NVMe drive, clone to the NMVe from the SATA or is the SATA drive the main system drive? Did you add the Samsung diver after installation or inject it during? Hopefully it will support the next feature update.
  • If you add anything that didn't come with the machine, your change of getting support ie BIOS and driver update from Acer is ZERO. There was a thread on the old forum about Samsung NVME 950PRO's on V5 & V7's second gen. The hardware is there but the BIOS is poor to the point that the only way to get Windows feature updates…
  • Hi frozencop, have one of the same machines myself regret the day I bought it. Your problem is possible thermal throttling. Try increasing the gap underneath the machine. I have added 6mm rubber pad extensions to the feet.
  • Here is an idea for a possible cluncky solution. Add an UEFI systems partion to the SATA drive that points to the windows installation on the 950 PRO. Any comments
  • No help for Acer support. Look at this problems listed on this site and think. Just ordered Dell machines for Client!
  • Thanks for the reply. To summaries After market 960 EVO NVMe in the m2 slot with CU 1703 cloned from the HD. No feature update perfomed since ssd was installed.
  • Hi pawnstar Did yor machine come originaly fitted with an ssd if can you tell what make and model please. Did you perform a feature update with the old ssd? Have you performed a feature update while using the 960 pro? I ask this as there as a number of owners who have installed 950 pro's aftermarket, the machines boot and…
  • If you read throught this forum you will find that lots of people are having problems with SSD's in the m2 slot, which is a 2280 form factor Does your machine have an SSD in the m2 slot? if so is it a NVM or a SATA slot it depends on the motherboard sub-version. Is a NVM controler showing in your Windows device manager…
  • No So you have go VB installed and you can open and close it with no guests configured in the VB manager, correct? You now want to add a guest starting from scratch or use an existing image file? What OS is the guest?
  • Windows 10 Home as I at this time refuse to pay for the PRO upgrade as it seams to be getting less PRO every day. Yes the account is an admin account. Virtualbox does all the virtalization I need, probably not as fast as Hyper-V but free. I'm looking at changeing the machine to linux in the future once the hardware (wifi,…
  • Windows 10 version 1511
  • Bios Verion 1.02 fixes the SSD performance issue I have a VN7-792G-70BV boot from a950 in about 10sec data on the HD but the 1607 update will not install NMVe controler comes from samsung and appears after installation
  • I have a similar machine, not exactly the same specs with Virtualbox 5.1.8 running with a Centos 5 guest with no problems. Virtualbox exe is installed on the SSD while the vdi file is on the HD. At what point is the system hanging?
  • Ok so we know that warrenty is out of the questain. Please remember the first rule of recovering from a hard drive problem if you are trying to get data back is "do no harm". What I'm trying to find out is does the HD have a physical problem or not. If it does have a phyiscal problem the only course of action is to replace…
  • I was after the HD model number so I could try to point you to the manufactoros web site, as most hard drive manufactors have utilies on their web sites for testing their drives. Some still have self booting DOS based ones that will work in you situation, if not there is a linux option…
  • Do you have any important information on the machine that you need to try to recover? Also what is the model number of the hard drive. Will reply tomorrow
  • There are many reasons for that problem. First you need to check if the drive is being recognised in the uefi
