  • Still an issue periodically. Battery indicator is there most of the time, but spontaneously disappears on a wakeful or restart after so many times. PITA
  • Hmmm, well, shoot, this worked for several reboots, but on another one, it quit working. I had to go back to device manager and again scan for hardware changes. Then it appeared again.
  • I think you should post the problem as a new one and maybe someone has a solution for repairing it. My suggestion would be, at least, to go to the Aspire Support area and try to get a replacement Windows 8.1 driver for your model.

  • Well, I think I got lucky in a tip from tenforums.com. Essentially you go into Device Manager. Click "Scan for Hardware Changes". And voila, the battery notify icon appeared. Now I need to see if it warns me at low power and if it saves my settings at low power or does a fast power off, as it has been doing.
