  • I was able to remove the cover gently and securely, but I thought if HDD was held from the screws on the left, but it was the rubber (plastic covering) padding/enclosure which was pressing itself against the internal walls of the laptop chassis to hold HDD against any shocks. Opening the HDD tray on the left does not give access to HDD holding screws? The screws are holding the existing HDD from the sides?
  • Unfortunately Win10 has wiped out the hidden eRecovery partition which includes the drivers. Acer support/drivers website has drivers only for Windows 10 for A315-31 https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7209?b=1 Is there a way to get drivers for Win8.1 for A315-31?

  • Then most probably the bootable pendrive isn't correct as it is not recognizing it as boot info in the pendrive, when F12 is pressed. I had same issue when I had Windows 10 ISO on pendrive, then had to make the pendrive again with "GPT partition scheme for UEFI" and FAT32 in Rufus (I used Rufus to make bootable pendrive…
  • Set the password for the BIOS you will get other options enabled (which you are looking for).
