  • I do not know if thats the original panel, but thats an IPS panel
  • Still hits 3.9ghz/full boost clocks in both high performance & balanced modes, balanced power setting really only affects only day to day usage, dropping clockspeeds when they are not needed. If you want to drop the temperature without losing any performance, download Intel XTU & give it a -0.15v undervolt offset & that…
  • Before you do anything else, i would suggest trying to reseat the 30pin edp cable. (If you havent already)
  • If you brave enough, you can change the thermalpaste & get another 10-15c off. You can also try to undervolt further, got mine 8300h to -250mw on cache & -175mw on core which results in roughly ~0.9-0.93v at 3.9ghz (gaming 75-85c, cpu only stress ~70-75c) You can also change multiplier in throttlestop using core ratios in…
  • Nothing in the nvidia control pabep cant be be changed to affect temperature, but you can use msi afterburner curve editor to give it a undervolt. Just google "Msi afterburner curve undervolt" and there are alot of guides Mine runs stock ~1750mhz at 1.08-1.09v but i can manage to run it at 1800mhz at ~0.95v which…
  • You should change the thermalpaste, i dont understand why they use so low grade one. But if yuo dont want to do that, you can also undervolt with Intel XTU program, just set it to offset -0.15v and you should drop 10'ish c in temperatures
  • If its 515-52, update bios to 1.19 that removes timer if ur plugged in. They should come out soon(tm) with 1.25 where u can disable/enable it in bios.
  • I grabbed calibrated profile from Notebookcheck already myself
  • I changed my thermalpaste to Noctua NH-T1 on my 515-52 and it brought temps down nicely with including undervolt. The laptop was only a couple of months old, but i had to scrape the old paste off since it was so dry. But i noticed that there is a manufacturing "flaw" on the heatsink itself, it produces uneven pressure to…
  • Not KB-timer related, but would it be possible to add the option to bios to change display output from the Intel integrated graphics to discrete Gpu? Obviously that would disable optimus & decrease battery life, but would allow g-sync/freesync for supported panels. I upgraded my panel to N156HHE-GA1, which support's…
  • You cant play on battery power, since the battery cant deliver the power that the components need in order to run at full speed. And even if that was possible, your battery life would be measured probably in minutes Those temperatures seem fine, but you can always undervolt the cpu with Intel XTU to decrease temperatures…
  • I tried to do that bios recovery flashback on my A315-41 when i bricked the bios/setup on it, but it didnt work (even got the right bios file) Only fix was to get a spi/bios programmer and flash a new one in. edit: Before that i tried everything possible, even removing bios battery but to no avail. Had the same problem as…
  • I bought the panel from ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/123172018735 Was shipped almost immediately & came with no dead pixels/backlight bleed or other stuff Also forgot to mention, that the panel is 8-bit vs 6-bit on old one
  • Also, if you have Intel cpu remember to undervolt too that drops temps just 5-15c by itself. Easiest way to do this is to download Intel XTU and just undervolt core/cache by -125 to -200 mw (lowest it will go while remaining stable) I got 8300H + 1050ti variant & after undervolt + repasting with Noctua NH-T1 im getting…
  • You could always revert back to 1.19 (no timer) untill there is a new bios to fix the issue
  • Display panel can be infact overclocked & the cpu should boost to 4ghz with 1-3 cores loaded and 3.9ghz with all 4 cores loaded. I run mine at 75hz, it can do 100hz but slight horizontal lines starts to appear. Alltho i have already ordered a 120hz panel which has a better contrast + color gamut
  • Just downgrade to 1.19 if you want "working" backlit KB
  • On my an515-52 (8300h undervolted -280mv core -190mv cache) did cinebench runs on both 1.19 (has working backlight) & the new 1.24. There wasnt really noticeable difference in temperatures, maybe 1.24 was 1-2c higher(?) Could have also been because i did some consecutive runs before. But i noticed that my score dropped…
  • If it has a maintenance slot for ram, it most certainly will have a free ram slot. I have A315-41(non-G) and i upgraded my 1x4gb to corsair 2400mhz cl17. If you live in EU, you can go grab it really cheap from amazon;…
  • Stock bios number is apparently 1.06, but cant find it anywhere
