  • Thanks for the reply. I know that the Toshiba SSD that came with mine does not have Nvme support.
  • Sounds good. Some people were taking them apart and putting Intel cards they bought off amazon, newegg, whatever but there was no way I was doing that. I have no interest taking apart my brand new laptop. The Nitro is pretty tightly put together and I don't want to make some crazy mistake that destoys the entire…
  • No prob with range but my router is only about 12 feet away and never really tested it. I'm a comcast customer and got sick of the tired old routers (wirless gateways) they give you if you don't ask for the latest and greatest so in case you do use comcast....demand an upgrade....it is the same $10/mo if you lease.…
  • That probably is a better recommendation I "only" was getting 54-65mbps with the one I linked too.
  • The models with the I7 4710 Intel had the Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 which was horrible. Amazon took mine back and it seemed they were aware of the problem. The next model had the I7 4720 and also a different Qualcomm 61x4 a/c card. This fixed the issue. If you are unable to return it just get a usb adapter that is what I…
  • That is weird. I had the VN7-791G-7939 with the Atherios NFA222 b/g/n adapter which was awful. Dropped connections every 5 minutes and I'm mere feet from the router. Exchanged it for the 730v with the a/c QCA61x4 and zero problems. Are there still wide spread issues even with the updated models' card?
  • I don't know about it being a design flaw. I returned my orgininal which had the Atheros wb222 (something like that) wifi card because of the constant disconnects or no connection at all. I liked the Nitro so much I took a chance on the updated model with the i7-4720 (instead of 4710) and wifi a/c adapter (Atheros…
  • yep, great machine otherwise. an updated model with an a/c wifi card was released on 1/25, waiting for my replacement. I liked it so much thought I'd take the chance on another.
  • I went to v 298 driver too....great when it works but still dropping the connection completely.
  •  This is one solution that I have gone to until they take it back....I tried turning off the bluetooth, i tried uninstalling the wifi without uninstalling the driver and then refreshing for hardware changes. None of that works. Link: http://amzn.com/B008IFXQFU I only get 65 mbps with this, not the 130mpbs that I get with…
  • Quit banging your head against the wall and return/exchange the thing. I spent countless hours not studying and doing exactly what you've done. Everything. It teased me and worked great for about 60 minutes until the disconnects started again after trying the fix you just did. I've been obsessing over the thing, this is…
  • I have your same issues. And yes they have a version with wireless a/c available for preorder on Amazon... http://amzn.com/B00RGMEVU0. I'm trying to esablish who the manufacturer is. All I want is an intel card not atheros and although I have with past computers I really do not want to take apart my 2 week old laptop to…
  • I did the USB external wifi adapter as a stopgap, works fine, it is definitely a hardware issue. I'm returning it and am trying to find out who the manufacturer is of their next round of Nitro's available for pre-order because I like the thing so much. http://amzn.com/B00RGMF4YM
  • How is that working out? Worked for about 40 minutes before dropped connections started again.
  • There had to have been a huge batch of defective Atheros wifi adapters, same thing here. 5 other wireless devices in the house and all connect with no problem. I bought a usb wifi adapter as a stopgap but will be returning this laptop that I love. Considering giving it another try with the newer wireless a/c models but…
