  • It's been over a month since this post. Any updates @Acer-Manny ?
  • My last comment vanished, something about needing review when I hit edit to fix a typo. In any case: I am able to reproduce with a 2014 macbook pro via HDMI using the forest image. For overdrive: using the forest image I was able to get the scanlines with overdrive set to off. Normally with overdrive off the…
  • Well, my story with this is over. Went to microcenter to exchange it. They let me open the new unit in store so I wouldn't have to transport it if it had the issue and it did. They said I could try a 3rd unit but decided against spending the time. I'm just going to buy a monitor in the $1k range and wait for a future…
  • If you're going to go this route, you can bring up this from their product page https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/predator-series/predatorx35 Far as I can tell it's false advertising at this point. As for kot0005's response to me, the issue is in conjunction with the monitor bought a new PC at over $3k, my old PC was…
  • Hi Acer-Manny, I called in earlier and managed to get through (likely what you were hearing about). For everyone here, the information I got is that there is a firmware update available however it's not specifically targeting this issue, and may not actually fix it. Firmware updates are not user serviceable and require…
  • Pretty sad that I can't get an official confirmation of a single question from Acer directly: is it all units or some? It's looking like some just based on us having to do our own footwork, when it should be a question Acer directly answers. Is it like 5% of units and we're the unlucky ones? is it 95% of units with most…
  • The forest image (https://i.imgur.com/JiTDI0G.jpg) still shows its lines even with the driver update for me. Not that a driver has anything to do it with it, but flicker remains on OSD if I switch to HDMI (no input) as well. Someone I asked said they don't have the issue at all even in the forest image however there's a…
  • @Acer-Manny do we have any updates on this issue? Have our reports/data/diagnosis been forwarded to the right team? Is it every unit or only some experiencing the issue? Do you know what's actually going on? When a fix is found will it be a firmware/driver type fix or will monitors need to be shipped back? If it needs to…
  • Has anyone exchanged the monitor only to have the same flicker effect? I don't even have confirmation if this is affecting every unit or not. It's disappointing getting no help from Acer, earlier posts about it being a driver issue sounds like an exchange won't help. It's definitely affecting an appreciable amount of them.
  • Just called the "dedicated predator" support line to see if I could get any information. I know the responder was likely a 3rd party help desk of some sort but in any case I got no useful information and when I tried to explain it wasn't just me with the issue and point to forums essentially got nowhere. She asked me to…
  • I can confirm I see it as well with no input (with HDMI being the empty input). Also it seems to me like I'm noticing it more and more in Final Fantasy XIV but I can't say if that's just because I played more, it's all in my head, the game zones I happened to be in, or it's actually getting worse. But it feels more…
  • Tried doing a bit more looking into it, once I got a flicker in Final Fantasy XIV, I was able to stare into my task bar and notice that I'm seeing the scanlines come in/out really fast which is what the flickering is for sure. I recorded 3 videos of the taskbar at extreme closeup. One has no flicker, one has a game…
  • Yeah I simply made the image 100%, one note is chrome auto-shrunk it so you may have to click to get the right "size". So chrome itself was full screen, image was loaded within chrome at 100%. It also worked on "full screen" (f11 key) mode on chrome. The effect is actually relatively subtle I only notice it on the…
  • I have taken two photos of close up to the screen that shows in more detail what's going on, hopefully this is useful to the support team. Good image with no issue: https://imgur.com/a/A9Mae6M Image with scanline issue: https://imgur.com/a/mvbmZ6u
  • I was able to easily reproduce the vertical (not horizontal like old TVs) scanline issue Delta_Payne reported with that image. I loaded the image and zoomed in, at 100% the entire page got scanlines including the the taskbar. If I kept zooming in they vanished, zoomed out it vanished. Only at exact 100%. I tried loading…
  • I just got this monitor and I'm having slight flickering issues in FFXIV, it seems to only happen in night time in the game. It affects even menus when it happens but when it doesn't I can't reproduce at all. Max refresh rate: 144hz Mode: G-sync on Format 10bpc RGB444-sRGB Range: full EOTF: SDR-sRGB 4790k i7 GTX 1080 GTX…
