  • I'm more impatient that persistent Hence using the MS mouse instead. Don't want to have to send my Switch in for service as firstly I would be without it for a while. Added to which, conjecture on my part I admit, it would likely come back set to default install and possibly with a report that the issue could not be found…
  • Hi lrc. No, never found a solution. Wish I'd bought another brand to be honest as this issue just makes the portable aspect of the device a PITA. I have just resorted to carrying a small MS wireless mouse around. Even this sometimes has a hiccup, maybe I should try diasbling the touchpad and see if that stops. Hadn't…
  • billsey, that's news to me, thanks for the heads-up. Have been a bit burried in work the last couple of weeks so must have missed that news. Is there a post anywhere stating what issues the BIOS update addresses? I've donwloaded it and will give it a go if I have some spare time tomorrow and report back here with results.
  • In the end I purchased a wireless mouse which works perfectly Having said that I had ordered an SSD to go into the space in the keyboard/dock of my Switch 11 before Christmas but it took the cable that I ordered from Acer until earlier this month to arrive. When I took the keyboard apart to install this I checked all the…
  • * DEUScronio First - i'm not from Germany, iam from Portugal! Sorry about that, the link you provided in an earlier post was for a German site. I jumped to a conclusion as to your location based on that... Glad to see that you have also had a successful install * charae32 - Can you store and move apps to the hdd/ssd to…
  • The official Acer HDD cable that I ordered arrived this morning. I have just taken my keyboard apart again, hopefully for the final time... My new SSD (Crucial MX100 256GB) physically fitted the space with room to spare between the metal tangs. I attached the SATA connector to the drive first, the way it's configured means…
  • Thanks for the swift response Cory. I took delivery on the 8th December and had issues with the trackpad within a few days. This is when I contacted support and eventually I was instructed to do a full, back to square one system restore. Once I'd done this system restore things appeared to go back to normal until I…
  • Cory, thank you, I very much appreciate your participation. Yes I understand the concepts of the touchpad as fitted to my Aspire Switch. When it works it's a reasonable and acceptable pointing device. Like most of it's ilk it's a balance between function, ergonomics and compact design. The latter compromising the others is…
  • Yeah i will go to local shop test the 64 card if it s work i takr it@ Yep, that'll work though you might find them reluctant to let you try before you buy. Purchasing from a local reputable retailer is always quick, easy and gives you somewhere to take it back to if it's not as described. Expect to pay top dollar for…
  • The UK Acer site states "Memory Card Supported: microSD Extended Capacity (microSDXC)" I have a 64GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC in my Switch 11 (which shows the same spec in this regard), pleased with it so far. Have installed quite a few programs to run from there, all successfully. Frustrated with Adobe Creative…
  • Hi maxorkaGTi, thanks for the reply. Sorry, I've been out of action for a few days due to illness. I'm not using Metro apps (unless I can help it), boot to desktop and run Classic Shell as I'm a bit 'old school'... Will maybe use Metro apps in tablet mode for casual use but in the main the Switch is for remote use for…
  • Sorry, have been knocked off my feet by a flu virus for the last few days. I don't have a link as such, ordered off this supplier here in the UK. They don't have the Switch listed on their site but were helpful on the phone, quickly located the part number for the cable I required and placed it order with Acer for me. Not…
  • Just to add to my comments above; I have had a chance to experiment a bit further today and using the click, left or right, with the touchpad usually, though not always, provokes the freeze. Mind you this is only the touchpad itself, you can immediately take over with the touch screen or a plugged in USB mouse.
  • Hi DEUScronio The cable I have ordered has a part number/description of 50.L66N5.001 - CABLE.HDD. A Google search for the part number brings up a few websites. I'm pretty sure this is it on the website you linked to though no part number is listed. Oddly enough they list hard drives for your model (SW5-111) but not the…
  • The cable I ordered from eBay arrived today. Regrettably it's too short to reach from the port on the board to where the SSD SATA connector would be with the drive installed. The connector for the board looks correct but the pin-outs may not be, not willing to test that if it's not going to be usable. I have now swallowed…
  • Thanks for the reply maxorkaGTi. Keyboard works as usual. There are no exclamation marks in Device Manager and scanning for new hardware doesn't bring anything up. There are two HID-compliant-mice listed under 'mice and other pointing devices', three when I have my wireless mouse plugged in. I assume one for touchpad, one…
  • When I say 'hard drive' I mean a disk drive, when I say SSD I'm refering to a solid state drive. I would wager that the latter is probably more robust though the 2.5 inch laptop drives are designed for this sort of use anyway. SSD are more expensive per GB but generally faster. I don't see why the WD drive you linked to…
  • DEUScronio, thanks for posting. The first of the links you provided seem to indicate that the internal memory is in fact possibly upgradeable? I see what you mean regarding securing the drive into the space within the keyboard/dock. The four threaded posts appear to be for this purpose and I had intended to fabricate a…
  • See the other thread where I've already replied to your question. In brief, sorry, as far as I understand from what I've heard, RAM and the primary internal memory are not upgradable. I have heard that these are soldered to to main board within the tablet. I think you're looking at the Intel Atom model if it only has 2GB…
  • The RAM is obvioulsy in the tablet section, not the keyboard/dock. Sorry, didn't take that apart. Though I understand that the RAM, as well as the internal memory, is soldered to the main board and isn't upgradeable. However, I must point out that this information is anecdotal rather than proven fact. The reason I bought…
