I've had the same experience with Acer, but on a different model (still travelmate series though). I wonder why Acer can't completely eliminate this problem

You can't MAKE your HDD to be an SSD. These are hardware types, not software. However you CAN replace the HDD with an SSD (and it's highly encouraged that you do). I suggest you get a professional/technician to do it for you (or you can do it yourself if you know a thing-or-two about replacing HDDs).
