  • I'm sorry but I do not have any Windows PC (assuming you use Windows) and neither do I own Acer hardware anymore, so I cannot recreate the binaries on Windows and test them but I've uploaded some binaries I've crosscompiled from Linux here: https://github.com/LeonardKoenig/acer_5750G_fan_maximiser/releases/tag/v0.1 Also…
  • A bit late mb but I'm just linking my post with a solution here: http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Acer-Aspire-v3-571g-Ability-to-control-fan-speed/m-p/359070#M60785
  • You might also look here for some hacks to control the fan: http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Acer-Aspire-v3-571g-Ability-to-control-fan-speed/m-p/359070#M60785 It might brick your device. Use on your own risk!
  • I'm glad to give a positive status! Eduard Nicodei was able to reverse-engineer the application acer provided us for the 5750G and coded a perl script for Linux and a C++ program for Windows. The good thing: It works for me on our V3-571G too! [DISCLAMER] WARNING: this is untested software that, as far as the author is…
  • Same thing here. It heats up with no end on Linux and on Windows. Linux' sensors won't find a fan, SpeedControl does neither. This *should* be fixed by Acer... For an other device you had a FanController program. Why not for this one? Or at least provide the info to write the program by oneself?
  • Just found out that my Maniboard is a "VA50_HC_CR" which is an Acer one. But I suppose that it is actually only a branded intel one, as it has the SATA AHCI controller on it.
  • So, I'm trying to find the drivers on intel's page but it seems that it is made as difficult as it could possibly be. The intel Chipset: I installed the "intel Chipset Installation Utility" - I think that did work. SATA AHCI driver: As there is already one shipped with Windows (since Vista, afaik), I think this is hardly…
  • Ok, thanks for the fast answer, but I have some questions, still: Why is there no Chipset Installation utility for Windows8(.1) displayed in the driver section, just for Windows7? Is it recommended to use the Acer one (which is outdated) or go with the intel one? My CPU has the capability for turbo boost but: Why is there…
  • hm, okay, that's sad
  • It's nothing about Linux actually. But the second thing is closer to what I want: I want to upgrade from BIOS to UEFI. There is a UEFI installable in the Updates section of my laptop so I asked, whether I can use this... . It's just that the note was very irritating. But is there the possibility to upgrade to UEFI for…
  • so it's a hardware problem and not a software one? so the model shipped with win8 is hardware-different from the one with win7? This would be sad. If it is so -there is no other way to use UEFI instead of the BIOS? I want to use GUID Partition Tables (GPT) , that's why Im asking.
