  • You may be right, I wouldn't be surprised if our varied attempts to repair the error in the BCD caused damage elsewhere. We'll try to create a Windows recovery disk and see what happens. Thanks again for your help.

Although Windows now boots and works, the ALT-F10 keys still lead to the same error screen and error code 0xc0000225 as I described a couple of posts ago.
