It usually starts at 1 gigabytes/sec (ever since I selcted best performance) and after 1 or 2 seconds drops back to between 40 to 45 MB/s

I used usb tree viewer and this I what it shows. according to the software having a companion port means they use the same physical port and port 18 supports usb 3 could this mean the cable's not working properly? I don't have another cable at the moment so I ordered one
