  • I just installed the new display and it works :) Only downsides are that it draws a hell of a lot power so my battery life went down in the dumpster and also the image isn't perfectly centered for some reason....maybe there is a way I can fix that with the settings tho? If I could adjust the screen in a way that you can in…
  • I'd like to use one of these, they're not 553 series, but hoping it's same size anyways...or maybe the bezels may have changed and thus they changed the size on the screen? Would love to upgrade to a FHD IPS screen, would be quite the upgrade ;P…
  • I mean it says to make sure it's the same resolution and everything as the old one, but why? https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Acer/ASPIRE~E15~E5-553~SERIES/
  • Does it have to be the exact same model number? I was thinking I might as well upgrade to a 1080p screen then from a similar model number...there's no reason that it shouldn't work is there? I mean as long as the inverter board comes with the new 1080p screen I don't see why it shouldn't work, but I'm no pro at this stuff.
  • Eeh oops 🤭 I noticed the screen worked fine when I put pressure on the inverter board so I think I figured out where the problem was. But when I tried to disconnect and reconnect the display from the board it seemed like it was stuck pretty good in there because I wasnt aware you were supposed to flip up a little piece of…
  • Thanks, yeah I think it's the connector part on the screen itself that's broken...seems to make most sense, I'll try changing that then, I don't have to solder anything do I? Hoping it's just screwed in :P
  • It works fine on a tv screen
  • Actually I think I found it (unfortunately have to order form abroad it seems), but what is that thin wire coming out of the cable? I thought it was a connection to the webcam, but that doesn't really make much sense does it?
  • Okay yeah I will be using a wristband and probably also an anti-static mat since if I order for over 80€ I get free shipping :P https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Anti-Static-Mat/IF145-036-2 However I'm getting really frustrated trying to figure out how to use this thing when I don't have a computer case to bond with. I…
  • Thanks! Yeah I hope so, I've only disassembled one laptop before and that was an old one that I wasn't too worried about if I killed it. This time I will be a lot more careful not to break anything or scratch stuff up, I'll also be diligent in making sure I know what screw goes where (on that old laptop I broke of a bunch…
  • Thank you very much both of you! =) This will be very helpful! (I hadn't even thought about searching up images of the motherboard, yeah...I'm a noob :P ) I actually think that makes it way easier tho! The hard part of reconnecting the keyboard was that the cable was super short and you had to somehow connect it between…
  • I'm afraid this sort of....stupidity I guess, would not be covered by the barebones warranty you get from shopping where I bought this laptop. I've called them and I didn't get a price from them over the phone, they want me to bring the laptop to them so they can take it in and have a look and then they would give me an…
  • IT WORKED! =) I just ran windows updates which included the update to Predator Sense and restarted my laptop, I then had this option to adjust the power limit to my CPU, I set it to high (not max), applied my XTU settings and ran the built-in benchmark. Where it used to power throttle a lot during this benchmarking (even…
  • I don't really have a problem with thermals and Acer Predator Helios 500 comes with G-Sync :) I think you're right, but I hope someone has managed to adjust the power limit set without changing to a self-modded BIOS :P
  • I'm only using XTU for now, if I really need to do something that I can't do here then I guess I will uninstall it and download Throttlestop instead, but it doesn't seem like it's necessary, just feels a bit more intimidating using that since there are so many things you can adjust and I have no idea what half of them do…
  • Thanks for replying, but I guess I don't understand what you want me to see? I can see you undervolted your cpu core a little more than me and less on cpu cache, as that is something you can do on throttle stopper and not XTU, but you're still power limit throttling...is this how you avoid current limit throttling? Your…
  • I only had to change the settings on the Network Killer Service that had the status of "Starting" or something like that (mine is not in english) and I only changed the first option in the drop down menu to "Do nothing". So it wont try to restart the service the first time it fails, but it will if it keeps failing, this…
  • It seems weird, but it's actually the Killer Network Service that seems to be causing this issue. You can solve it by doing this: - Click Windows Start button - Type "Services" and click Enter - Scroll down the list to find "Killer Network Services" (Most likely you will see it's status being "Starting" or something…
