"An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with X ." X is all of the available time services: time.windows.com, time.nw.nist.com, time.a.nist.com and one other service. Question: if the CMOS battery is not replaced what other computer function would be lost besides the clock?

Sathya: Before I had success with Alt F10, I couldn't find Acer eRecovery. Either my model doesn't have it or I deleted it some time ago. But again thanks for the help. Actually, after getting past Alt F10, it was not completely straight forward. I had to delete what was in the [ } and type in Acer eRecovery.
