  • So far in this thread, nobody has answered question #1, 2 or 3 from the original post.
  • Well I suppose it is now a moot point as I have now installed the softwares. I have NO idea what has caused the changine in the machine. I HAVE NOT done a Restore. I still do not know if the machine was working as it is supposed to or not. Nobody has answered that question yet.
  • Well through fiddling with things, I found that I CAN paste a screenshot to Paint. It wasn't working before because I was using "Shift" with "Insert/Prt Sc" when I should have been using "Fn". Unfamiliar button and with the User Guide not providing any info, I didn't know about that button.

That is not verbatim, but a general recollection of the message I saw repeatedly. The message disappears when you do anything else. So one cannot just leave it there and go back to it…

But then, my old 2002 Intel Pentium 4 on XP has always run the case and cpu fans constantly, no variation in RPM, as long as the machine is powered up. My son's Dell has always run the fan constantly too. So I'm not sure your new Acer is…
  • Thanks for responding Inspiration. I had not run across anyone selling new computers such as your 603 less 'Windows. I might have preferred that. Then I could have installed 7 instead of 8. I've read a number of forum and blog discussions of troubles with replacing a factory Windows 8 with 7, although some are very happy…
  • Thanks Phil. I'm an Owner, Administrator and/or Moderator on several other forums on other subjects and participant on many more. So this whole deal shouldn't be too unfamiliar to me.
