  • Follow the below Youtube vid, but at the end, where he says disable both features, make sure the HDD is selected, and the top (acoustic) one will be greyed out, but the bottom one have enabled, and the slider all the way right to (FEh) which is maximum performance..... Youtube Linky And yes, unfortunately it needs to be…
  • When you do, go into device manager and dissable the HDD, just in case anything tries to access it, then do your test and re-enable it after. Either that or just install crystaldiskinfo and see if it helps. My drive is a Western Digital WDC WD10JPVX-22JC3T0 1TB. Quiet, nippy but flawed.....
  • If it's a dual fan model like my VN7-591G-56JG, you could try my profile for fancontrol. Works a treat on mine. Battlefield 1 runs around 40-60 fps with the 860m overclockd and the CPU maxxed out and it's around 90 degrees without any throttling. Edit: I repasted my CPU and GPU. the acer stuff was complete mess and not…
  • Do you have an SSD and a hard drive? I had that issue, and it's the rubbish WD blue hard disk Acer use as the data drive. Spins down every 15 to 20 seconds and if you have anything 'touching files' it to read, it hangs the PC while is spins up (all my games are installed on it). Unfortunately you can't write to the drive…
  • Just take your time, clear a worksurface with good light, and have a couple of bowls fo bits. Take photos all the way, then you can see where everything went when you reverse the process. It's not easy, I admit, but it's not impossible for anyone to do.
  • Seriously all, just take the plunge.... Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7265 This is what I bought. £15, and about 30 min to open the laptop and swap it out. 866.7mbps connected to my Virgin Meadi router (in line of sight) and I can copy multi gigabyte files of my server wirelessly at 32 / 33 Megabytes a second, rock stable…

  • Notebook Fancontrol works on my Aspire (VN7-591G-56JG). Notebook FanControl Took a bit of fiddling, but mine works like a dream now, I have a profile that is silent when idle and ramps to 100 when it gets to about 80 degrees C. My posts are around page 60.
  • It's stored in the BIOS too (Some widows 7 laptops, and all windows 8). Use the link and method 1 to get it back..... Get windows product key
  • The windows 7/8 key for your laptop is stored in the BIOS. Download RW-EVERYTHING to get it, then reinstall the vanilla windows 7/8 from the microsoft website usng that, and then let it update and self upgrade to Windows 10. Takes a little time, but works. Use the below link on how to get your key.…
  • I havd a shed load of problems and I managed to recover it......Try following what I did; http://208.74.204.69/t5/Windows-10/WIndows-10-Activation/td-p/382738/page/2
  • What Nvidia drivers are you using? There are know issues from Nvidia on the 860M, and I was suffering from the display driver recovering. There is a hotfix driver for the 860M that others find works for the 9XX series to. Have a look here;…
  • Could be a memory leak (torrents) or your IP stak is getting overloaded. Torrents are notorious for holding hundreds of connecions open. Try a day without downloading and see if the same happens.
  • @ Captain_WD Unfortunaltly, the throughput isn't the issue, and MMO games call on textures on the fly al the time forcing the HD not to spin down. What you will find is that static games that load levels in one (crysis for example) load up near most of the textures at the start, but then call on audio files on the fly. As…
  • The Nvidia website; http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3812/~/geforce-hot-fix-driver-359.12
  • I did the same, but went for an AC 7265 instead. Miles better, no disconnects and solid throughput!
  • I ended up changing my Qualcom card for an Intel 7625 card, and since then my connection has been as soolid a a rock since. I managed to pick one up of the bay for £14 delivered and it took about 10 min to install. I would reccomend this if you feel up to it!
  • Didn't have any of the windows errors you mentioned, but thanks for the heads up. Ended up being the wireless card. Bought an Intel 7625 of ebay for 14 quid, and installed it. Rock stable now!
  • These laptops are awesome but they only use the fans at 60% which is a balnce by ACER between noise and cooling. Get hold of Notebook Fancontrol, and have a look at a few of my earlier posts. It was one of the items I adressed to get my laptop running a lot cooler.....
  • Seems to be a know issues from Nvidia, there is a hotfix driver for the 860M that others find works for the 9XX series to. Seach for this to dowwnload...... 359.12-notebook-win10-64bit-international.hf.exe
