Systems with Intel® Kaby Lake and AMD Ryzen CPUs may not receive updates for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1

Why do I get the error "Your PC uses a processor that is designed for the latest version of Windows" when I try to install Windows updates?

Intel® Kaby Lake and AMD Ryzen are designed for newer Microsoft operating systems like Windows 10. Microsoft will not be providing Windows 7 or 8.1 updates for systems with these processors. Please see the Microsoft support article for more information on this topic.
