How do I use Windows system protection to create restore points?
System protection creates and saves information about your drivers, programs, system files, and settings. Windows will automatically create restore points before significant system like software installations or Windows updates.
Use the following steps to turn system protection on:
- Type Control Panel in the search box.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click System.
- Click System protection.
- Highlight the drive you want to set up system protection on and click Configure.
- Select Turn on system protection.
- Move the slider to set the amount of Max Usage: space. More space allows you to create more restore points.
- Click Apply and then OK.
Note: Select Turn off system protection if you do not want Windows to create restore points.
