Why does the touchscreen not work on my Acer VTO, UT1 or UT2 touchscreen display?
Many Acer touch series monitors supports responsive 10-point multi-touch input when properly connected to a compatible operating system.
For the touchscreen functionality to work, your Acer touch capable monitor must be connected to your computer using two separate cables:
- A video input cable – HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA (for the display image)
- A USB touch cable – USB Type-A to USB Type-B (for touch signal transmission)
The video cable alone will not enable touch. The monitor’s USB connection is what sends touch input data from the screen to your computer.
How to Connect for Touchscreen Use
- Turn off your computer and monitor before making connections.
- Connect the video cable:
- Choose HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA based on your computer’s available ports.
- Plug one end into your PC and the other into the matching port on the monitor.
- Connect the USB touch cable from your monitor to aUSB port on your computer.
- Connect the power adapter to the monitor and plug it into an outlet.
- Turn on the monitor and your computer.
Verifying Touchscreen Detection in Windows
Once connected, Windows should automatically detect the Acer monitor as a touch device. To confirm:
- Press Windows + S and search for Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.
- In Tablet PC Settings, ensure the monitor is listed under Display.
- If touch is not functioning, click Setup and follow the on-screen prompts.
If Touch is Not Working
- Double-check that both cables are firmly connected.
- Try a different USB port on your computer.
- Restart your PC after connecting.
- Update your USB and graphics drivers.
- Test the monitor on another computer to confirm it is not a hardware issue.
