How to Reset the Volume for Your Devices in Windows 11

Resetting the volume for your Windows 11 devices’ sound output will reset the audio setting to 100% for all apps. This may be something you want to do if the audio is not working correctly, or if you want to try and get more performance out of all your devices. It is also a simple way to stop using custom settings on your Windows 11 volume mixer.

On the other hand, if you are having sound issues but did not upgrade your audio equipment or install a driver update then you may want to choose to reset your driver to the basic Windows 11 audio driver. Read below to learn how to perform both processes.

How to reset your Windows 11 audio settings

Click on Start ⊞ and select Settings ⚙.
Click on Sound and select Volume Mixer in the advanced section to open the sound control panel.
At the bottom of the screen, select Reset.

How to uninstall the audio driver in Windows 11

Open Device Manager and select Sound, video and game controllers.
Double-click the device you want to reset.
Locate the Driver tab and click on Uninstall Device, then click on Uninstall.
