<main> <article class="userContent"> <p>You can use the Windows Startup Repair tool if your computer is not booting correctly, or if you want to attempt to fix issues or corruption in your operating system. Windows Startup Repair may allow your computer to fully boot to Windows if it is having trouble booting up. The startup repair tool will not diagnose any potential hardware issues, but is a good place to get started if you are having software problems. Use the instructions below to launch Windows Startup Repair.</p><h2 data-id="how-to-access-startup-repair-from-within-windows"><strong>How to access Startup Repair from within Windows</strong></h2><ol><li>Press <strong>Ctrl </strong>+ <strong>Alt </strong>+ <strong>Del </strong>and click on <strong>Lock </strong>to go to the Windows sign-in screen.</li><li>Hold <strong>Shift </strong>and click on the <strong>Power</strong> button in the lower right corner.</li><li>Continue holding <strong>Shift </strong>and click on <strong>Restart. </strong>Your computer should boot to a blue screen that says <strong><em>Choose an option</em></strong>.</li><li>Select <strong>Troubleshoot.</strong></li><li>Click on <strong>Advanced Options.</strong></li><li>Click on <strong>Startup Repair.</strong></li></ol><h2 data-id="how-to-access-startup-repair-if-windows-will-not-boot">How to access Startup Repair if Windows will not boot</h2><ol><li>Press and hold the <strong>Power</strong> key down for 5 seconds to turn your computer completely off. You should be able to hear the power to the computer go off if you listen closely.</li><li>Power on the computer, and before it boots to Windows, hold the <strong>Power</strong> key down until the computer shuts completely off.</li><li>Repeat step 2 for a total of three times.
