How to Turn Off the News and Interests Widget in Windows 11

Windows 11 includes a News and Interest widget that provides notifications for weather, news stories, sports scores and more. This widget is enabled by default in Windows 11, but can be disabled in a few short steps. Follow the instructions on how to turn off the news and interests widget in your taskbar.

Note: There is not an option to completely disable a widget in Windows 11. You can only adjust the settings to remove it from the taskbar.

How to disable the News and Interests widget in Windows 11 Settings

Click on Start ⊞ and select Settings ⚙, or use Windows + I to quickly open Settings.
Click on Personalization and select Taskbar.
Move the Widgets slider option to Off.

Right-click on the taskbar and select Taskbar Settings.
Move the Widgets slider option to Off.
