There are many apps, like Google maps, that need your location to optimize their services. There are also many apps out there that do not need your location but still have access to it. If you value your privacy and do not want unnecessary apps to track your location, Windows 11 has a way for you to disable location services.
This article will teach you how to disable location tracking completely, or on a per application basis in Windows 11.
How to disable location access
- Click on Start ⊞ and select Settings⚙, or use Windows + I to quickly open Settings.
- Select System > Privacy & security > Location.
- Use the Location services toggle to turn all location tracking on or off.
- If you only want to turn off location tracking for apps, use the Let apps access your location toggle.
Once you turn off location services, the apps you have installed on your Windows 11 PC will no longer be able to access your device location.
