How to print to canon MG3070S Network printer from CB3-131 chromebook?

For several years now google used cloud print as the print solution for chromebooks, until they discontinued that solution in december 2020 and offered no solution on what to do now. Newer chromebooks get linux and playstore, but google has for years now, had the Acer Chromebook CB3-131 on Planned for android apps and Playstore, but so far no updates, either they forgot it or its going to be updated in far future. Is there any option to get printing working either by the OS or by android apps and maybe Playstore on this model?

I don't really want to install anything on this one as it only has 16GB storage and always get "out of storage space" popup(even with only a few apps installed, chomeOS is too big for 16GB). Maybe you could squeeze in a solution for that too:)

And the fact that Cannon dropped the ball and never made a Chromebook driver for it, so can't even use it by USB. There are android app for this printer and also Linux driver.

The printer is Cannon PIXMA MG3070S announced as Cloud Print ready when I bought it a year ago(only to find out Cloud Print were going to be discontinued, after the purchase)

It works fine with my Xubuntu laptop but not the Chromebook. Even before, Cloud print only worked if my laptop were online and on the same network. Very annoying.

I can't be that I have to get my GF another laptop just to be able to print, that is just too stupid and there has to be a work around.

Hope someone here can crack that nut :)

Thank you in advance

Jan

You should be able to find the printer with the Chromebook as long as the printer is on the same network. You now go directly to the printer instead of going to the cloud first...

Hi billsey, my printer is found but can't be configured due to no driver available(all there are mostly decades old) and no CUPS driver either, no linux or playstore as I decribed above.

    Hi insomniacno1,

In general chromebook  does not support drivers. So please connect the devices with the same network try to connect through cloud printer.

Hi Easwar, you do know that cloud print has been discontinued since december 31, don't you? If cloud print were working then we would not have this problem!

Do you, by any chance, have a Windows PC on the same network? You might try sharing it from the PC and then print to the PC from the Chromebook.
