aspire z3-715 - Using HDMI IN as a Monitor for another PC

I have an older aspire z3-715 i3 that has been running super slow.  Techy son tried to do some repair, cleaning etc... to no avail.  
Purchased a new mini pc.  I noticed the aspire z3-715 has an HDMI IN port.  Is there a way I can use the aspire z3-715 as a monitor only,  for new PC

    @bcastelli55 I'm going to have to disagree with @christy1 here. The HDMI-In port is designed for exactly what you want to do. It allows the Aspire Z3-715 to be used as a 'dumb monitor' for a different machine. It supports resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz. You use the On Screen Display buttons to select the HDMI-In as the source port and that's what will be displayed. You won't have access to the USB ports or camera/microphone, just the display.

    Unfortunately we cant use.

    Try a full reset on the aspire z3-715 if its slow. as its a good machine. try an upgrade on its hardware like ram and hdd.

    Thank you for the reply Christy1.  I thought I had seen one time that you could, just not a how to.  If this cant be done, then i have to wonder - just what is the purpose of having and HDMI IN port?  Confused why it would be there to begin with ?

    with the hdmi port we can have multiple display for the all in one pc.

    Looking at this ( https://uk.pcmag.com/desktops/89465/acer-aspire-z3-az3-715-ur15 ) You should be able to do exaclty that, Do you get a signal when you plug anything in? 

    I can see in the forums some people had problems with the Z10 having to be on and some menu option being gryed out ( https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/394586/hdmi-in-problems-aspire-z3-710 ) but it should work how you want (Its not a normal feature which is what im guessing christy1 is getting confused about!), The suggestion was that the cables used for it to detect in signals are a bit eh so if you have a few try a few!

    Thanks billsey.  That's what i was getting at.  I couldn't see what an HDMI-"IN" port on any all in one machine would be for, if not to use it as a monitor. 
    I ended up purchasing for $99 an LG 1080,60Hz with 2ms response.  I may just end up keeping it and do a full factory reset on the Z3 to have as a spare PC for the house.  But its good to know that I can use it as a dub monitor if needed.  Thanks Again

    No problem. The confusion is that some of the AIO models have the HDMI-In port and some do not. Some that do have a physical button to switch between modes, some do it through the OSD. It can be tough to figure out which is which.
