Hi guys,

I bought the Predator Helios 300 PH315-53 recently, and I had a question about the temps. Is this laptop supposed to get so hot? While not doing anything using HWiNFO I have these temps :
CPU - Average 58c
GPU- Average 51c

Is this normal, I am asking as those seem kinda high for a laptop that at the moment is not doing anything at all. Also the grills above the keyboard are they meant to get very hot when gaming (I know they are exhausting hot air, but they do get pretty hot.

You not doing anything and system not doing anything are two different things. Check under task mananger and make sure it is under 4-5% for extended periods of time of you doing nothing. Reason being there could be lot of things like windows search indexing and such that could be happening under the hood.
Your room ambient temperature also plays an important part.
The temps you mentioned are when system is doing something internally.

The temps in my home are around 22-24C and my laptop when completely idle are between 35-40 C.

There is nothing running I checked my task manager and the only thing that was using the most cpu was the task manager itself 5% in total it was CPU usage of 9%. No background tasks running either with those temps

I think its a little bit on the higher side. What are your temps under intensive load?

They are pretty bad in the high 80-90s mark (while gaming). Keep in mind this is a brand new laptop it's about 4 days old.

I think your chip is 10th gen so it can't be undervolted, hence you are having really high temps. You can use the warranty to repaste your laptop. Other things u can try are putting fans on max while gaming and raising the back by few inches or using an aftermarket cooling pad.

I am already using a aftermarket cooling pad just incase. Raising the fans makes it very loud, so I keep it on auto. I find it confusing that at 6% loading its 56-64 degrees

You can give replacement a shot since its just 4 days. If it runs cool then I would suggest keeping the fans on max. For noise you can just wear headphones or something.

I am wondering if other people with the same laptop have the same temps, I did read a lot in the past 2 days and apparently the new i7 does get hot and it's temps are on average higher than other cpus

Intel disabled undervolting for 10th gen chips which makes them run really hot unless you have a really good cooling system which is very hard to get on a laptop. But I think the laptop you have a decent cooling system so you can try repasting that should significantly reduce your temps. Is your gpu hot too?

Nope GPU is at 47-50c. Not sure while gaming as I am working at the moment. However the GPU seems to be perfectly fine. Even under load(non gaming) it gets to around 60ish but I think that is perfectly fine for the GPU

I have also changed the power limit to 97% and that seems to have actually helped a little in the Battery Options > Edit Power Plan

Yes but you may lose some performance(but its ok since you are already throttling). Best thing would be to put fans on max and change the tim.

Hello, what you should do is to delete windows updates and also disable the windows for automatic updates to avoid this happening in the future.

T'S NOT MY SOLUTION I HAVE FOUND IT IN THE ACER COMMUNITY BUT IT WORKED FOR ME MY LAPTOP PH315-53 SPEC ARE  I5 10TH GEN RTX 2060 ADD NEW BATTERY POWER OPTION AND CHANGE THE FREQUENCY IN IT
    2. Confirm all actions and complete the installation.
    3. Go to Control Panel -> Power Options -> Advanced Settings.
    4. Open the Processor Power Management section and go to Maximum Processor Frequency.
    5. Set Plugged In Value to -> Total MHz - 500MHz(E.g. if you have 4100MHz, set it to 3600MHz).

    6. Apply the settings.

Note: The change above will not affect Intel Turbo Boost technology. Your CPU will still use Intel Turbo Boost.

I hope that after the steps above you should be able to run your game as smooth as they were before without a temperature issue.
The temperature should be between 80° - 88°
