I currently have an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55, and lately it began making weird noises on the right side of the laptop(apparently GPU fan). I have a 24 months warranty and wanted to send my laptop to acer service, but in their rules of sending rules it is written that they can restore the laptop to factory new settings if needed. I can't make a backup and only have a week to fix this problem. My question is, why would they delete all of the data because of fan replacement? I'm a student and don't have time to backup all of my 1500 gb data. Is it somehow possible to ask them not to do that? Because in their policy it is written that they can do it if they want. Thanks in advance.

Yes, we understand the problem with the Fan, but there might be chances that they need upgrade few of the features of the OS system  or some driver as well, because of that only there are more possible changes of installing the OS ,some times they might also update the BIOS as well.

Can they just switch out my hard drive and ssd and put their own for testing? I'm sure they have additional hard drives/ssds for this kind of stuff.

When you call the Acer support, request them to mentioned that you dont want the data to be wiped off since its the issue with Fan. They will for sure do their best not to wipe or you can also check with them whether you can send the unit without the HDD or the SSD
